Open Text To Support Microsoft Office 12, Strengthens Partnership with Microsoft

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 19, 2005) -

Will Deepen Microsoft Integration, Extend Office 12 ECM Capabilities for Document and Compliance Processes; Companies' Complementary ECM Strategies Blend Compliance, Productivity

Open Text™ Corporation (TSX:OTC)(NASDAQ:OTEX), the leading independent provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, said today that Livelink ECM will support Microsoft Office "12", the code name of the next major release of Microsoft software. Livelink ECM will connect directly with Microsoft's ECM capabilities and extend the content created in Office "12" into key business processes for industries such as government, pharmaceuticals, energy, media and entertainment.

The announcement advances the relationship between the two companies, driven by their complementary solutions. Microsoft's desktop and business platforms match well with Open Text solutions that meet the document management, archiving and compliance requirements of large companies and government agencies. Open Text is a key Microsoft partner, delivering enterprise scaleable email management, content archiving, records management, digital media and other solutions for Microsoft applications, such as Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Microsoft Office 2003 editions, Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003.

"Open Text is an important Microsoft partner and is well known for its enterprise-scale content and compliance management capabilities in the solutions it creates for customers," said Sanjay Manchanda, Director of SharePoint Products and Technologies at Microsoft. "By building on the ECM capabilities we will be delivering in the Office '12' timeframe, Open Text will be able to deliver more comprehensive solutions that will increase productivity and improve information management for Global 2000 companies."

"Microsoft is a key strategic partner and our support for Microsoft Office '12' ECM capabilities is a natural evolution in our overall strategy to manage content across the enterprise," said Bill Forquer, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing at Open Text. "Building on our integrations with Microsoft is critical to our customers because most content created in large organizations today originates from a Microsoft application, and Windows continues to grow in importance as a mission critical server platform."

Open Text is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner with a track record for delivering powerful ECM solutions that extend Microsoft applications. By integrating with and extending Microsoft's Office "12" ECM capabilities, Open Text continues its strategy of connecting Livelink ECM Solutions with Microsoft's desktop applications, and continuing to manage that content throughout its entire lifecycle, including its retention and archiving. Livelink ECM Solutions include email management and archiving for Microsoft Exchange and Outlook users. In August, Open Text unveiled a content archiving solution for Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies, giving customers a powerful, long-term archive to store documents from SharePoint sites.
