Opengear console servers provide leading-edge, secure remote access to network devices including servers, routers, switches and firewalls, as well as PDU and UPS devices. The IM4216-34 provides one point of control for managing all the servers, networking and power equipment in a rack. The IM4216-34 provides sixteen serial ports for advanced console management, a 32 port Ethernet gateway for SNMP device management, three USB ports and 16GB of internal flash memory.

For example, in the event of ping failure on a managed device, alerts can be sent, devices can be reset or custom recovery scripts can be run. In another example, if a critical UPS battery level is reached, a graceful shutdown can be initiated before loss of power causes an uncontrolled shut down.
- Remote rack-level management: Opengear securely manages service processor technologies and management ports embedded in servers and other network equipment either in-band, or through dial-up and/or wireless broadband (cellular) out-of-band -- to guarantee availability and access for monitoring, management and maintenance of remote locations, even during network outage or disaster recovery.
