Opening Date for Mountain Oak Comprehensive Care, PC

An Alternative to Hospital Mental Health Care

SANTA CRUZ, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 5, 2011) - Rebecca A. Powers, MD, MPH, is pleased to announce the official opening of Mountain Oak Comprehensive Care (MOCC), PC, on December 12, 2011. MOCC received licensure from the California Department of Mental Health on September 16, 2011. Several open houses have been held to allow interested parties to visit the facility and meet staff members. MOCC is now prepared to operate at full capacity and will be able to accommodate clients for the holiday season which is often a difficult time for those suffering from a mental illness. As the Medical Director and President of this new facility, Dr. Powers says of MOCC's intent: "The use of a personalized client-centered treatment plan allows for the most effective healing process and enables the client to quickly become an active member of their family and community again."

MOCC is a sub-acute six bed Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) for adult women, located in a peaceful private setting. The services provided are for clients suffering from severe and persistent mental illness and in need of intensive psychiatric care. The most appropriate clients for MOCC are those who would benefit from 24/7 inpatient care but choose not to pursue their care in a traditional hospital setting. These are clients in need of extended treatment after hospital release or a higher level of care than provided by most outpatient programs.

The program at MOCC is voluntary with average stays of 21 days. Clients will be provided with intensive support and rehabilitative services including daily individual and group therapy. They will benefit from a homelike setting, round-the-clock care by both mental and medical health professionals, dietician supervised organic catered meals, recreational and occupational therapy, therapeutic outings, and weekly gatherings with family and friends.

With a per diem rate of 40% less than that of psychiatric hospitals, the low cost of treatment is one of the many advantages of staying at MOCC. While MOCC accepts many health insurance plans, private pay clients are also welcome. Physicians referring clients in need of care are encouraged to contact the Program Director for more information. Currently clients are being placed on a waiting list pending the opening date.
