Operational Note: 82nd FBU Annual Conference

Dates: 9, 10 and 11 May 2007 Venue: Floral Hall, Southport

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - May 01, 2007) - Approximately 300 delegates representing fire crews, emergency fire control and senior officers from every fire and rescue service in Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland will meet at the 82nd FBU annual conference. The Final Agenda and other conference papers are published on our website: in the "Latest Site Updates" section on the left hand side of the front page.

The following are subject to the decisions of the Standing Orders committee which organises business and the Conference itself. No more specific timings for business can be given and all are subject to decisions of the conference.

Each day: start time 9.30am, end time 17.30.

Wednesday: Speakers (both AM) Brendan Barber, General Secretary TUC and Angela E. Smith MP, Fire Minister, Department for Communities and Local Government. Main business: fire service pay and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) payments.

Thursday (closed sessions AM). Main business: co-responder schemes. Afternoon speaker John McDonnell MP (subject to confirmation).

Friday main business: Regional fire control project and a range of international speakers.

Media credentials are available from the media office at conference, which is open to print and broadcast journalists and photographers, subject to any specific decision to the contrary taken by the conference itself.
