OPSEU Media Advisory: Tentative Agreement Reached in LCBO Talks

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 24, 2009) - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union will hold a news conference this afternoon to discuss a new tentative collective agreement reached with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.

Date: Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Time: 3:00 p.m.

Place: Churchill "B" Ballroom, Delta Chelsea Hotel

33 Gerrard St. W., TORONTO

Speakers at the news conference will be Vanda Klumper, chair of the union bargaining team, and OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas.

"We set a goal in this round of bargaining that we would not settle for any deal unless it protected the livelihoods of our permanent staff and made measurable gains for the majority of our members who are struggling to make ends meet as casuals," said Klumper. "We achieved that goal.

"The bargaining team is unanimous in recommending acceptance of this historic contract."
