OpSource Cloud Fires New Salvo in Enterprise-Class Cloud Feature War, Adds Important Reporting and Control Features to Meet Corporate Governance Requirements

Additional Channel-Friendly Enhancements Accelerate Revenue Opportunities for OpSource Partners

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - March 1, 2010) -  OpSource™, the leader in Cloud operations, today announced that it has added multiple new features to OpSource Cloud™, all of which advance its unique blend of enterprise-class security, performance and control while positioning the product for its rapidly growing channel business. Enterprise-class features are a requirement for any company looking to move to the Cloud and have always been at the core of OpSource Cloud as well as OpSource On-Demand, the company's fully-managed hosting solution. As every on-demand service should, OpSource adds new features on a bi-weekly basis in response to customer feedback. With today's most recent enhancements, OpSource has made it easier than ever for enterprises to move to the cloud, bringing them the most extensive controls and detailed reporting available today.

"Public cloud computing will move from an interesting add-on to a true extension of enterprise IT only after it provides the same levels of control and reporting that enterprise IT expects and utilizes today," said Antonio Piraino, vice president and research director, Tier1Research. "Enterprises are not willing to compromise to move to the cloud -- they need more than just security, they need a solution that meets the expectations of their corporate governance. Solutions that offer these capabilities will help bring the substantial second wave of enterprise users to the cloud."

Since coming to market five months ago, one of OpSource Cloud's key differentiators has been its focus on enterprise-quality control, including administrator and sub-administrator roles, user level login/passwords and role-based permissions. Now, OpSource has added detailed usage reporting -- including billing information, audit trails and cost allocations -- that are more comprehensive than anything on the market today. These usage reports, which may be outputted in a Microsoft Excel format, provide users with a daily summary and details of their Cloud resource usage analogous to -- but with even more detailed information than you would find on -- a phone bill. With this data, IT can track and manage all of their Cloud resources on a server by sever basis, fine-tuning their spend, meeting corporate governance requirements and optimizing their cloud operations.

OpSource Cloud also stands out for its performance, with fast provisioning that can get a new account created in seconds, and have servers up and running in minutes. In addition to performance-enhancing features like configurable servers and burstable CPU, OpSource Cloud now offers hardware-based load balancing which gives IT professionals the flexibility to gracefully add and remove cloud servers to a server farm as their performance and traffic needs demand. Load balancing is particularly important for new application releases where demand is hard to predict. The new load balancing feature enables load distribution across a server farm which ensures high performance as well as redundant, seamless fail-over in case of application failure. All of the OpSource Cloud load-balancing features are available through OpSource's REST-based API. This allows users to programmatically scale their environment on demand, up to meet demand and down to reduce operating costs.

Other new OpSource Cloud features include the ability to increase RAM up to 16 GB per VM, providing greater support for memory-intensive applications. Support for CentOS 5 in 32 and 64 bit images as well as Red Hat Version 4 is also now included. Finally, OpSource has enhanced the ability for its users to add additional images, making it easy for them to replicate what they are doing outside of the cloud in a test environment.

Building on its already strong channel program, OpSource has enhanced the ability for VARs and resellers to import their images and make them available to their customers through OpSource Cloud. Alternatively, OpSource partners can use OpSource Cloud to create re-usable images of their application based on OpSource provided pre-defined library images. Once created, partner images can be stored in a special customer accessible partner image library. OpSource promotes these images and manages their use for OpSource channel partners. OpSource Cloud channel programs include the industry's most lucrative referral program; a Distributor/VAR program that ensures customer ownership remains with the partner; and a white label program designed to speed time-to-market for systems integrators, telcos and others.

"With OpSource Cloud, we set out to build an enterprise-class infrastructure-as-a-service solution," said Don Green, Senior Vice President of Product Management, OpSource. "We have achieved our goal -- but we aren't done yet. Working with our rapidly growing customer base, we will continue to enhance OpSource Cloud, making it the most powerful solution for any company or reseller moving to the cloud. We look forward to working with our community to bring continued innovation to the cloud."
