Optimal Receives Contracts Totaling Over $3 Million

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 12, 2005) - Optimal Geomatics Inc., (TSX VENTURE:OPG) ("Optimal") a geomatics service and software provider to the power line and pipeline utility sector, is pleased to announce that the Company has been awarded 11 new contracts totaling over $3 Million since its last press release in May of 2005. The 11 contract wins are from both electric and gas utilities based predominantly in the United States. Of the 11 total orders, 7 are from existing customers while 4 bring new customers to Optimal's client list. The largest contract win, awarded by an existing customer, was $1 Million. A significant amount of these contract wins will be delivered in Fiscal Year 2006.

Commenting on the award of these contracts, Optimal's Director of Business Development, John Leahy, remarked, "We are extremely pleased with our recent contract awards. Optimal Geomatics specializes in providing highly accurate geomatic services and software to a customer-base, which is primarily composed of Electric power line and Gas pipeline utilities. Geomatics is best-described as the acquisition, storage, management, retrieval, manipulation, and distribution of spatial or geographically referenced data. Optimal employs a number of acquisition systems, including its proprietary technology, for aerial data acquisition, and applies innovative technology, techniques, and expertise for in-house processing. The Company's unique mapping products and services help utilities reduce cost, improve efficiency, and better-manage their assets by turning raw data into highly valuable geospatial information and engineering reports.
