The Options Industry Council Announces Equity Options Seminar Schedule for Winter/Spring 2007

CHICAGO, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 19, 2007 -- The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today its winter/spring schedule of equity options seminars for investors and brokers. The seminar schedule will feature basic, covered calls, spreads, and advanced seminars in select cities across the U.S.

"2006 was a record-breaking year with more that 2 billion contracts traded, a 35 percent increase over 2005. A key factor in the growing use of options in the past several years has been the increasing number of investors learning how to use them properly in their investment plans," said Susan Milligan, Executive Director of OIC. "OIC's live seminars provide an excellent opportunity for investors to enhance their options knowledge by learning from options professionals and takeaway materials."

OIC's free equity options seminars are taught in a classroom-style format by experienced options exchange instructors. The seminars are held from 6 - 9 p.m. and registration is required.

Seminars will be held in the following cities from February 13 to May 3: Atlanta; Baltimore; Cambridge, Mass.; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; DePaul University (Chicago); Detroit; Irvine, Calif.; Long Island; Minneapolis; NY Midtown; Philadelphia; Phoenix; San Diego, Calif.; San Jose, Calif.; San Mateo, Calif.; and Seattle/Bellevue, Wash.

Seminar offerings include:

Basics Seminar: "Options Strategies for the Stock Investor" -- This workshop provides an introduction to options as an investment tool. Attendees will learn options fundamentals and how to choose an options strategy in light of market expectations and volatility forecasts using real market data. Topics will include: options terminology and mechanics; buying calls and puts; buying protective puts/selling covered calls, collars; options symbology; and introduction to Long Term Equity AnticiPation Securities® (LEAPS®).

Covered Calls Seminar: "Covered Calls and Income Strategies" -- This seminar will teach participants what stocks to look for, how to calculate returns and how to manage options positions. Attendees will also learn when to use the covered call strategy and how to create a disciplined approach to implementing it.

Spreads Seminar: "Understanding and Trading Options Spread Strategies" -- Attendees will learn the benefits of vertical spreads, straddles, strangles, and some spreads involving both stocks and options. An instructor will discuss how these strategies work, the profit and risk potential, and why these strategies are appropriate for particular market forecasts. Price behavior and options mechanics will also be explained.

Advanced Seminar: "Advanced Options for Experienced Investors" -- This seminar is for those investors who understand the language of options and simple spread trading strategies, and will cover the decision making variables that can affect investors' bottom line. An instructor will discuss options valuation and its importance in establishing performance expectations. The presentation explores bullish strategies for the experienced options user and compares call buying, put selling, and spreads. The class will also explore the LEAPS® buy-write strategy and examine position management strategies including rolls and repairs.
