Oracle Hosts Multi-City Event and Live Webcast for Java Developers in Advance of the Availability of Java 7

  • To celebrate the upcoming availability of Java Platform, Standard Edition 7 (Java SE 7), Oracle will host a live webcast on July 7, 2011 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), featuring speakers from Java developer events in Redwood Shores, Calif., London and São Paulo.

  • Participants will include: Accenture, The Eclipse Foundation, HP, IBM, The London Java Community, Oracle, Royal Bank of Scotland, Riot Games, SouJava and Travelex.
  • In addition to participating in the webcast, Ben Evans from the London Java Community and Bruno Souza from SouJava, both newly elected members of the Java Community Process (JCP), will also be hosting the local events in London and São Paulo respectively.
  • The Redwood Shores and London events will take place at Oracle facilities and in São Paulo at The Developer's Conference 2011, as part of Oracle's Platinum sponsorship.
  • Oracle will also host an evening reception at Java Forum Stuttgart, for conference attendees to view the live webcast.
  • The July 7 developer events are part of an extensive outreach program by Oracle to provide support for Java User Groups worldwide, recognizing that their contributions and involvement are necessary to continue moving Java forward.
  • More than 200 Java User Groups (JUGs) from 52 countries around the world are also planning to hold local events over the next few months and will take advantage of Java 7 launch kits offered by Oracle, which include a Java SE 7 technical presentation, related technology modules and T-shirts for members.
