Orange Chooses Apigee to Deliver Telco Data and Services to Partners

Apigee's Platform for APIs and Big Data Enables Orange Developers and Partners to Easily Create Innovative, Telco-Enhanced Apps

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 15, 2014) - Apigee® today announced that Orange, one of the world's leading providers of telecommunications services, has selected Apigee's digital platform to power the APIs (application programming interfaces) for Orange Partner, its business hub for developers, partners and start-ups programs.

The Orange Partner program exposes a portfolio of APIs that enable developers and partners to build rich mobile and Web applications using Orange core networks and services. Today, Orange already promotes several APIs, including enriched communications with joyn, machine-to-machine, search and personal APIs, and it aims to extend its offerings throughout 2014 starting with its cloud, secure access and customer profiles.

Orange has chosen the Apigee platform to ensure a smooth and seamless journey for partner and app developers. With Apigee, Orange takes advantage of a well designed and easy-to-use platform to collaborate with its partners in order to foster the fast development of new services for its customers and to cultivate an active ecosystem of innovation in the app economy. Orange Partner will therefore be able to create new business opportunities through the cloud, 4G, near-field communications (NFC), TV, smart home and more.

The Apigee digital business platform is designed to help companies of all sizes succeed in today's mobile-first digital world. Through comprehensive API management and predictive big data analytics, Apigee helps businesses accelerate, expand, and quickly adapt to change.

Orange joins the growing list of telecommunications service providers that are using Apigee's adaptive digital platform, including AT&T, Globe Telecom, KT, Swisscom, Smart Communications, Telefonica and Vodafone.

Last year, Apigee won a distinguished Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award in the "Wholesale Service Innovation" category. Presented by Global Telecoms Business, a leading telco magazine, the award honors the most innovative telecommunication achievements that are defining the present and future course of the industry. Apigee received the award jointly with Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone.

Thierry Souche, SVP Orange Labs Products & Services, said: "We wanted to highlight and provide access to our portfolio of APIs and enhance our ecosystem's developer journey through a simple self-service solution, and Apigee is the backbone technology that enables this. We selected Apigee for its innovative technology, for its thought leadership in APIs, apps and data, and for its experience with similar initiatives in other large enterprises."

Ed Anuff, Apigee vice president of Product Strategy, said: "Orange is a forward-thinking, innovative company, and we're working with the team to expose a wide range of APIs that can be used by professional developers to create new services. This is a fantastic opportunity for Orange partners to create new experiences and open up new revenue streams using these APIs, and we're excited to see the imaginative ideas that will come from this."
