Orange County Attorney Joins Board of Directors for IWIRC, Southern California Chapter

Kyra E. Andrassy, Partner at Smiley Wang-Ekvall, Joins Executive Leadership for Organization Dedicated to Connecting and Supporting Women Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals


COSTA MESA, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 8, 2016) - Smiley Wang-Ekvall, LLP today announced that firm partner Kyra E. Andrassy has been named to the board of directors for the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation's (IWIRC) Southern California Chapter, an organization committed to the connection, promotion and success of women in insolvency and restructuring professions.

Andrassy will serve as the IWIRC Southern California communications director, overseeing all marketing and communications initiatives and working with fellow board members to develop professional and educational programming and provide opportunities for Southern California insolvency professionals to network locally and among the global IWIRC network.

Andrassy is one of three female partners at Smiley Wang-Ekvall, an Orange County firm specializing in business litigation, real estate transactions, and bankruptcy and insolvency matters.

As a partner and litigator with Smiley Wang-Ekvall, LLP, Andrassy's insolvency-related work includes representing chapter 11 debtors, chapter 7 and chapter 11 trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees, purchasers of assets from bankruptcy estates, assignees in assignments for the benefit of creditors, and borrowers in out-of-court workouts. Andrassy is currently a member of the Insolvency Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California. She served in governing leadership roles with the Orange County Bankruptcy Forum including as president from 2008-2009 and on the Board of Directors from 2008-2010. In 2011, she was the sole attorney on the committee to revise the Local Rules Governing Bankruptcy Appeals, Cases, and Proceedings of the U.S. District Court, Central District of California.

Andrassy received her juris doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles where she was an editor of the Loyola Law Review. She served a judicial externship to the Honorable Barry Russell, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Central District of California and served a judicial clerkship to the Honorable John E. Ryan, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Central District of California and a member of the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.
