Lynda McDougall Re-elected to ETFO Executive Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Education Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 17, 2005) -

Lynda McDougall, a teacher with the Upper Grand District School Board, has been re-elected to the provincial Executive of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO). This will be her third term as an Executive member.

"The challenge for this new Executive will be to build on our successful experiences and plan for activities ahead with a clear vision and a thoughtful heart," McDougall told the 600 delegates attending ETFO's annual meeting in Toronto.

"We will need to manage newly negotiated collective agreements. Members will look forward to programs and resources. Local leadership will need to be supported and engaged. By engaging members in new ways we ensure that we reflect the broad community ETFO has become," she said.

McDougall, who lives in Orangeville, has been a teacher for 25 years and has taught in both rural and urban schools. She has been an executive member of the Upper Grand Teacher Local since 1998 and this past year she was local vice-president for the 63 schools in Upper Grand. She also ran as an NDP candidate in the by-election in Dufferin-Peel-Wellington-Grey.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) represents 65,000 public elementary school teachers and education workers across Ontario and is the largest teacher union in Canada outside of Quebec.
