Orbite Confirms Choice Regarding Hydrothermal Process for its Green Smelter Grade Alumina Plant

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - April 10, 2012) - Orbite Aluminae Inc. ("Orbite" or the "Company") (TSX:ORT) confirms its choice for hydrochloric acid ("HCl") recovery technology for its smelter grade alumina ("SGA") plant operations based on data from SMS Siemag and ThyssenKrupp supporting the hydrothermal process efficiency and recovery rates. Part of the design of the SGA plant implies the recovery and the regeneration of hydrochloric acid. Key decision factors in selecting this technology include the high yield recovery of acid, economic viability, as well as environmental friendliness.

Orbite's engineers conducted a thorough technical due diligence of the technologies available including spray roasting, fluidized beds and hydrothermal process. The selection process included sites visits of such commercial scale operations.

As a result of the technical due diligence, the Company has selected the hydrothermal process from SMS Siemag as the technology of choice. This decision was based on the technology's ability to respond to large commercial scale requirements including high recovery yield, low energy consumption with regard to lower operating temperatures, product quality (HCl concentration and hematite quality) and very low atmosphere emissions.

As planned, Orbite will be generating revenues by the end of 2012 and beyond with its High Purity Alumina Plant, while looking to licence its patented technologies. The first SGA plant is planned for the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014 with the active cooperation of Rusal, the world's largest aluminum producer.
