Organization Dedicated to Strengthening Nonprofits Through Technology Expands to Orange County

SANTA ANA, CA--(Marketwire - September 15, 2010) -  The GroundWork group, an Ohio-based nonprofit, has opened an Orange County office to meet the technology needs of local nonprofits. The opening of GroundWork's West Coast affiliate is the result of collaboration with several Orange County nonprofits and funders, which through an extensive due diligence process have concluded that improved technology resources will enable local nonprofits to better deliver on their charitable missions.

Launched five years ago, GroundWork group delivers affordable technology services to nonprofits. The model was founded and perfected in Central Ohio, where over 190 nonprofits have benefited from services such as IT management, tech support, website development and hosting, and technology classes.

Looking to extend its impact on the nonprofit sector, the GroundWork group identified Orange County as a prime candidate for an expanded presence. Orange County is home to over 4,000 nonprofit organizations and had no existing technology service provider designed specifically to meet the needs of nonprofit organizations. An analysis of Orange County nonprofits found that, while most nonprofits had access to a technology vendor or donated IT resource, services received were focused on hardware rather than the effective integration of systems and services. Also, because of budget constraints, many nonprofits could only access services sporadically or on an emergency basis. GroundWork group Orange County will increase the technological capabilities of Orange County nonprofits in an effective and affordable manner so that they can more efficiently carry out their missions.

With the launch of the Orange County office, GroundWork group welcomes William F. Podlich, co-founder of Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), to its national Board of Directors. Podlich serves as Chairman of the Board of the Orange County Shared Spaces Foundation and is seated on several university and nonprofit boards.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Bill on our board," says GroundWork group CEO John Hrusovsky. "With his dedication to philanthropy and business savvy, Bill will be a significant catalyst toward the achievement of GroundWork group's long-term goals."

GroundWork group is supported locally by the Orange County Community Foundation, Orange County United Way, Irvine Health Foundation, and Children and Families Commission of Orange County. The group is conducting outreach to the local nonprofit community and IT providers to raise awareness of its launch as well as its services and benefits. A recruitment process is underway for an executive director for GroundWork group Orange County.

About GroundWork group
