Organizational Changes to Operations and Marketing Sectors at RONA

An initiative stemming from the strategic plan to optimize the network and support business growth

BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 14, 2008) - RONA (TSX:RON), the largest Canadian retailer and distributor of hardware, renovation and gardening products, has announced changes to its organizational structure in its Operations and Marketing sectors. This initiative stems from RONA's 2008-2011 Strategic plan and aims at helping the company continue to grow while optimizing the entire RONA network.

Retail operations

All of our big-box, proximity and specialized store operations which, until recently, were managed by separate departments, have been grouped together in one single department. Under the direction of Pierre Dandoy, Executive Vice President, Retail Operations, this new department will include all corporate and franchise store activities across Canada. Until this announcement, Pierre Dandoy was Executive Vice President, Big-box stores. He has been with RONA since 2002.

RONA's marketing activities have been consolidated and widened. Renewed emphasis is placed on innovation and customer experience. Claude Bernier has been assigned responsibility for this sector as Executive Vice President, Marketing and Customer Innovations. Claude Bernier has been with RONA for 10 years and until this announcement, held the position of Senior Vice President, Proximity and Specialized stores.

Recruitment of new affiliate dealers

Recruitment and support of affiliate dealer-owners represents a major growth vector for RONA. From now on, these activities will be spearheaded by a separate department and will fall under the direct responsibility of RONA's President and CEO, Robert Dutton.

"The organizational changes we are announcing today are providing RONA with a renewed dynamism and solid leverage to face the challenges that await us in this tough economic context. They are allowing us to maintain our role as industry leader in Canada," said Robert Dutton, President and CEO of RONA. "The support of affiliate dealers and recruitment of new independent dealers are central to our growth strategy. Even greater attention will now be devoted to this sector and I am making it a personal priority in order to further crystallize our role as industry consolidator in Canada. Pierre Dandoy and Claude Bernier are seasoned executives who have a solid experience not only in retail, but also with RONA. Their deep expertise and vision are key assets for the company," concluded Mr. Dutton.
