OrganizedWisdom Director and Former Time Warner CEO Jerry Levin Keynotes 2011 DTC National Conference

Levin Addressed the Health Gap During a One-on-One Conversation With OrganizedWisdom Co-Founder and CEO Steven Krein

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Apr 8, 2011) - Recently appointed to the Board of Directors for OrganizedWisdom, an expert-driven platform for health and wellness, Jerry Levin delivered a keynote address at the 2011 DTC National Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. Levin, former Chaiman and CEO of Time Warner who played a key role in transforming major industries including cable, news, and digital media, shared insight about the need for disruption in the health industry during an interview with OrganizedWisdom CEO Steven Krein.

Levin's personal reflections covered the following themes on the intersection of health and technology:

  • The healthcare industry is undergoing a period of significant disruption as a result of the adoption of digital media. Whereas currently patients recently diagnosed with an illness face the Web's "chaotic algorithmic frenzy," Levin believes in developing a trust filter to vet the knowledge of our medical community. He said, "People have very specific needs for themselves and their families, but they're groping, trying to fit in to Google's long-tail searches. That's when we should give them something really meaningful for their condition."
  • Levin challenged DTC marketers, as well as the technology community, to lead an "era of innovation" in health. He addressed the audience, "Your database, which is intrinsic in your marketing program, needs to flourish in a way that's much more related to an individual who has issues that need to be addressed on an individual basis. It's time to be innovative about it."
  • As pharmaceutical budgets are shifting from the biggest online health encyclopedias to smaller start-ups that emphasize innovation, there is a tremendous opportunity for advertisers to pursue new models that reach extremely targeted and engaged audiences.

Earlier this week, OrganizedWisdom announced that Levin joined their Board of Directors to help close the 'Health Gap' -- the space between an Internet search and a doctor's visit, where a patient is left alone with a search box and millions of potential results. OrganizedWisdom makes it easy for a new generation of doctors and other experts to share vetted health and wellness resources online using digital media in an effort to improve the standard of patient care.
