Orinda Annual Classic Car Show Supports Seniors' Ride Program

ORINDA, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 4, 2012) - On Saturday, September 22^nd from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Orinda, CA will host the 8^th Annual Orinda Classic Car Show. This free event, presented by Orinda Motors, continues to delight car fans and it almost solely funds the "Seniors Around Town" transportation service, an Orinda Association program, in addition to the other charities it supports.

Kate Wiley, Program Director for Seniors Around Town (SAT) explains, "Since our state transportation grant dried up, we have depended almost solely on this fine car show event for funding to keep our services intact. We cherish comments from seniors like, 'I greatly appreciate all the help I get from SAT drivers who help me do errands on a regular basis. I wouldn't be able to manage without them.'" Wiley adds, "The program's volunteer drivers benefit as well by the rewards of helping seniors who can no longer drive."

In addition to American and European classic and modern exotic cars and motorcycles, this year's event will feature an outstanding exhibit of Ford Model A's and a Carroll Shelby tribute display of Shelby Mustangs and Cobras. More than 180 American & European cars ranging from the 1920's, to the classics of the 50's and 60's, as well as modern exotics will be shown. There will be something for everybody!

"This year's show will again display classics 'on the green' thanks to the Orinda Country Club's support opening its beautiful 16^th golf fairway for displays," says event founder, Chip Herman. "There'll again be the flavor of 'Pebble Beach' in Orinda. The car show is part of the Orinda Chamber of Commerce 'Celebrate September in Orinda' event series including The Orinda Restaurant Tour on Tuesday, September 18^th, our Pre-Show party, 'Dancing With The Cars' on Friday, September 21^st, and 'Speed on the Screen' special-feature movie night at the classic art deco Orinda Theatre on Sunday, September 23^rd with two showings of 'Bullitt' at 5:30 and 7:45 p.m." 

Last year's event featured over 175 cars and raised more than $45,000 for the "Seniors Around Town" program, the Educational Foundation of Orinda and other local charities. Each year the car show has grown in size and increased the charitable contribution to local Orinda organizations.
