WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - June 21, 2016) - Orlando, FL Mayor Buddy Dyer will address the nation's mayors the afternoon of Sunday, June 26 at The U.S. Conference of Mayors 84th Annual Meeting at the J.W. Marriott in Indianapolis, where hundreds of mayors will gather under the leadership of USCM President Baltimore (MD) Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and host Indianapolis (IN) Mayor Joe Hogsett to discuss a wide variety of priorities that contribute to the overall health of America's cities. Dyer is slated to speak at 4:00 p.m. in Grand Ballrooms 5/6.
Mayor Dyer, whose city has suffered unspeakable loss following the tragic mass shooting at Pulse nightclub on Sunday, June 12, will discuss the impact of the horrific event on city residents, and how the community is responding. Dyer will be speaking in the afternoon plenary session prior to remarks from Presumptive Presidential Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton.
With more than 85% of people in the United States living in our nation's cities and metro areas, mayors are convinced that despite their geographic location, cities large and small are plagued by many of the same challenges. As a result, and unlike other elected officials, mayors are often able to find common ground and work in a true spirit of bipartisanship.
The mayors' meeting runs from Friday, June 24th to Monday, June 27th.
All business sessions are OPEN to the press unless otherwise indicated (EVENING EVENTS ARE CLOSED TO PRESS).
All press MUST register to attend the meeting at: http://usmayors.org/84thAnnualMeeting/press_registration.asp
On-site registration at the J.W. Marriott hotel will also be available during the meeting. ONLY reporters with proper, up-to-date press credentials will be allowed access.
For planning purposes, a DRAFT AGENDA and list of PRE-REGISTERED MAYORS will be available at www.usmayors.org.
The Conference is proud to announce that Airbnb is the title sponsor for this year's Annual Meeting. Founded in 2008, Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world -- online or from a mobile phone or tablet. Airbnb's mission is to democratize travel by allowing anyone to belong anywhere. Most Airbnb hosts in the U.S. are middle class families, typically earning the equivalent of a 14% annual raise by sharing the home in which they live.
