Orleans Energy Comments on Fatality Incident

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 10, 2008) - In the early evening of Friday, March 7, 2008, Orleans Energy Ltd. ("Orleans" or the "Company") was informed of a fatality at the Orleans' Kaybob 10-22-60-19W5M inlet separator gas facility. An operator, Hans Olson, who was an employee of ELH Enterprises, a contractor to Orleans, was performing a routine orifice meter change-out within the facility at the time of the incident. Although the exact cause of death is unknown, it is believed the operator came into contact with hydrogen sulfide ("H2S") gas.

The RCMP, Emergency Medical Services, Workplace Health and Safety ("WHS") and the Energy Resources Conservation Board ("ERCB") were contacted and are currently performing investigations into the incident. Upon receipt of the detailed incident report, the Company will provide further clarification and comments. With the final consent of WHS, Orleans anticipates full return to production of the facility later today, March 10, 2008.

Orleans is shocked and saddened at such a tragic incident and would like to express its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, Hans Olson.

The Company also wishes to emphasize that with all of its field facilities and operations, current Emergency, Health and Safety Guidelines as well as Emergency Response Manuals are judiciously maintained and all Orleans' management, key employees and field personnel are required to be operationally knowledgeable of these documents and procedures.
