Orvana Announces Appointment of a New Vice President, Corporate Development

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 27, 2008) - Carlos Mirabal, President and Chief Executive Officer of Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX:ORV) ("Orvana" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Williams as Vice President, Corporate Development for Orvana. After spending eight years in the petroleum industry, Bill received his Ph.D. in Economic Geology from the University of Arizona. He was then involved in minerals exploration and project development throughout the Americas with Western Mining, Northern Orion, Phelps Dodge and Freeport-McMoRan.

Mr. Mirabal said: "Bill brings nearly 20 years of both brownfields and greenfields exploration experience throughout the Americas, highlighted by his most recent responsibilities of overseeing the exploration program for Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc.
