Orvana Announces New Directors

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 9, 2007) - The Board of Directors of Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX:ORV) ("Orvana" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Enrique Fernando Herrera and Robert A. Mitchell as directors of the Company.

Mr. Herrera is currently General Manager of Aluz C&O Peru, a company aiming to develop clean energy projects in Peru, Chile and Colombia. During the last ten years, Mr. Herrera has been a member of the boards of directors of various Latin American companies in the banking, insurance and energy sectors. Mr. Herrera resides in Lima, Peru.

Mr. Mitchell is a director and member of the audit committee of another public company and a former partner of Ernst & Young LLP, chartered accountants. He served on Orvana's Board of Directors previously. Mr. Mitchell resides in Toronto, Canada.

Messrs. Herrera and Mitchell replace Ignacio Foncillas and Peter Stein, who have resigned as directors of the Company. Ms. Susan McArthur, Chairman said: "We wish to express our sincere appreciation to Ignacio and Peter for their contributions to the Board and to the Company."
