Orvana Experiences Work Stoppage at its Don Mario Mine

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 5, 2005) - Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX:ORV)("Orvana" or the "Company") announces that the unionized work force at its Don Mario gold mine in Bolivia has commenced strike action. Mine management and the union representing mine employees have been negotiating a labour contract and are continuing to negotiate, but at this time, an agreement has not been reached.

The effect of the strike on total production and costs cannot be determined at this time and will be impacted by, among other things, the length of any labour stoppage and the terms of any final settlement that may be reached.
