Orvis Names Eagle Nest Lodge of Hardin, Montana the Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year

MANCHESTER, VT--(Marketwire - April 23, 2008) - For more than 150 years, The Orvis Company has been recognized the world over as the gold standard in fly fishing. That is why the Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year award is one of the most coveted for fly fishing lodges across the country.

This week The Orvis Company announced that the winner of the Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year award has been given to the Eagle Nest Lodge of Hardin, Montana. Situated on the famed Bighorn River, the Eagle Nest Lodge has been owned and operated since 2002 by John and Rebecca Shirley who bring to their guests a combination of expert guiding skills and a passionate commitment to customer service.

One recent guest of the lodge summed up their experience this way:

"John and Rebecca have the secret to providing a first class experience in addition to outstanding fishing. When I had to leave I felt for the first time that I was leaving friends. Out of more than 100 trips to other lodges, the entire management and staff at Eagle Nest are the best. I cannot think of one improvement needed and that is a rare admission."

For over twenty years the Orvis Company has been recognizing excellence in fly fishing experiences through its Endorsed Lodges Outfitters and Guides program. Each endorsed operation has its own character, but all share the same high standards: great service, great fishing, and an experienced, professional staff. These standards of excellence are reviewed annually by the Orvis staff and evaluated by visiting guests in post-visit critiques sent directly to The Orvis Company. Orvis-Endorsed operations cater to all anglers, from beginners to experts.

Founded in 1856, Orvis pioneered the mail order industry in the United States, operates a chain of retail stores in the U.S. and England including its Flagship store in Manchester, VT; and maintains a network of more than 400 dealers worldwide.
