Oryon Technologies Offers Elastolite® Technology and Business Overview

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - May 17, 2012) - Oryon Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB: ORYN) (PINKSHEETS: ORYN) ("Oryon" or the "Company") is a developer and manufacturer of an innovative and revolutionary next-generation flexible, crushable, water resistant and wearable lighting technology known as Elastolite®.

The Elastolite® brand is based on electroluminescent ("EL") lamp technology. While EL technology in itself isn't new, Elastolite® is the result of an eight year and multi-million dollar development program that overcame restrictive barriers that had previously limited the growth of the EL technology.

The Company's core assets are based on 55 patents issued or pending worldwide. Management believes these patents will help Oryon maintain its leadership role in the continuing advancement of this game-changing technology. Oryon's experienced engineers and scientists believe they, with continued research and development, will have the capability to apply Elastolite® to virtually any product. This is at the heart of the company's commitment to the development of novel production-oriented and economic application solutions aimed at assisting the product development teams of its current and future commercial partners.

Elastolite® is a 3-part system consisting of a lamp fabricated as a micro-thin film, more like a fabric, that is durable, malleable, and washable and that is currently heat-transferred, and in the future, in-molded, compression-molded or printed onto/into a substrate or base material. The lamp uses a technologically advanced conductive thread to transfer power from a tiny, highly efficient power generator (inverter) powered by alkaline or rechargeable batteries similar to those used in cellular phones.

Oryon is initially focusing on developing solutions for the textile, apparel (specifically sports and safety), and membrane switch industries where its technology has already been deployed and achieved market acceptance. Oryon received early market validation in the apparel, textile and 'sports gear' arena through test marketing of Elastolite® in over 100,000 apparel and gear items sold by Marmot Mountain and Lands' End and through its inclusion in over 125 million Motorola products plus efforts with the innovation team of a leading Fortune 500 sports apparel brand and with notable costume effects for the Disney film "Tron Legacy" (released December 2010) as well as a relationship with a Fortune 100 Occupational Safety Products licensee.

Within the target textile markets, billions of units are shipped each year. This includes outerwear, industrial safety, municipal safety, military, athletic apparel, men's, women's and children's clothing, toys, footwear, sports gear and clothing accessories. These markets generate over $250 billion annually and are second only in size to the food industry.

Company CEO, Tom Schaeffer comments, "Our technology has garnered tremendous interest recently. The adoption of Elastolite in the safety industry alone is a massive opportunity driven by the simple fundamental that you can never have too much visibility at night above and beyond reflective. Our product delivers a solution that can be incorporated into thousands of products and we look forward to working with manufacturers to aid in the creation of cost-effective manufacturing scenarios that can ramp up production and sales opportunities for our clients, while propelling us to the forefront of a revolutionized segment in the lighting industry."
