There are more than 20 Soldier Modernization Programs (SMP) at different stages of development ramping up around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. The common goals of these programs are to reduce blue casualties, raise operational tempo and increase readiness for future operations. A key requirement of all of these programs is to provide command, control, communications and intelligence (C3I) capabilities to the soldier.
