OSSTF/FEESO Celebrates Franco-Ontarian Day

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 25, 2014) - Today, we celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day in the province of Ontario. This Day officially recognizes the contribution of Ontario's Francophone community to the cultural, historical, social, economic and political life of our province. There are more than 600,000 Francophones in Ontario, the largest Francophone community outside of Quebec.

Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) President Paul Elliott said, "OSSTF/FEESO congratulates and thanks all of the members of Ontario's Francophone community for their many significant contributions to the province's history and cultural landscape. On behalf of the 60,000 members of OSSTF/FEESO, I especially want to pay tribute to our many Francophone members who work in the publicly-funded education system and assist students to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes they need to be successful."

To honour OSSTF/FEESO's 5,000 Francophone members, we proudly fly the Franco-Ontarian flag at OSSTF/FEESO's Provincial Office in Toronto.

OSSTF/FEESO, founded in 1919, has 60,000 members across Ontario. They include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational assistants, continuing education teachers and instructors, early childhood educators, psychologists, secretaries, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, university support staff, and many others in education.
