OSSTF/FEESO Sanctions Commence or Continue in School Boards


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 19, 2012) - Ken Coran, President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation announced today that OSSTF/FEESO Support Staff, Teacher and Occasional Teacher Bargaining Units in the following school boards have now commenced strike action as of the dates indicated:

  • Bluewater District School Board (Educational Support Professionals, Office Professionals and Technicians, Professional Student Services Personnel) November 14, 2012

  • Rainbow District School Board (Educational Support Staff, Professional Student Services Personnel, Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 19, 2012

  • Near North District School Board (Educational Assistants, Professional Student Services Personnel, Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 15, 2012

  • Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (Educational Assistants, Designated Early Childhood Educators, Maintenance, Office and Clerical) November 19, 2012

  • Avon-Maitland District School Board (Office, Clerical, Technical, Educational Assistants, Professional Student Services Personnel, Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 19, 2012

  • Lambton-Kent District School Board (Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 19, 2012

  • Simcoe County District School Board (Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 19, 2012

  • Grand Erie District School Board (Professional Student Services Personnel, Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 19, 2012

  • Algoma District School Board (Early Childhood Educators, Educational Support Staff, Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 19, 2012

  • Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board ( Office, Clerical, Technical, Professional Student Services Personnel) November 19, 2012

  • District School Board Ontario North East (Early Childhood Educators, Educational Assistants, Professional Student Services Personnel, Teachers and Occasional Teachers) November 20, 2012

These are in addition to the bargaining units that were previously announced on Monday, November 12, 2012. Sanctions are suspended in the bargaining units that have reached tentative agreements.

OSSTF/FEESO, founded in 1919, has 60,000 members across Ontario. They include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational assistants, continuing education teachers and instructors, early childhood educators, psychologists, secretaries, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, university support staff, and many others in education.
