OSSTF/FEESO Wishes McGuinty Well, Looks Forward to Working With New Leadership

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2012) - The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) would like to wish Dalton McGuinty, Terri and their family all the best as the Premier begins his exit from political life.

"We want to recognize Dalton McGuinty for his years of public service in Ontario," said Ken Coran, President of OSSTF/FEESO. "Premier McGuinty has been the education premier for many years and he and his government have initiated many progressive changes over the past nine years."

"Together, the Premier and education partners have accomplished a great deal in Ontario's public education system. These successes have been achieved through positive collaboration and dialogue," continued Coran. "Our members are proud of their role in making Ontario's public education system the best in the English-speaking world."

"We look forward to the opportunity to work with a new leader in the near future and a return to the collaborative environment that existed in the past. It is through dialogue and mutual respect that we have and will continue to accomplish a great deal more."

"As McGuinty begins his exit from the Premier's office, he has an opportunity to leave a positive legacy by repealing Bill 115, and allowing local negotiations to continue without interference," concluded Coran.

OSSTF/FEESO, founded in 1919, has 60,000 members across Ontario. They include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational assistants, continuing education teachers and instructors, early childhood educators, psychologists, secretaries, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, university support staff, and many others in education.
