Ottawa Senators Announce 82-Game 2007-08 Schedule

Club also releases 6-game pre-season schedule

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 11, 2007) - For the third consecutive season, the Ottawa Senators will open their regular-season schedule on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs. With the NHL releasing today the complete 2007-08 schedule, the Senators will travel to Toronto to open the club's 15th season on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The Senators will then welcome the Maple Leafs to Scotiabank Place the following evening, Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. The 2007-08 calendar wraps up when Ottawa hosts the Boston Bruins on Friday, April 4.

The Senators also announced their six-game pre-season schedule, featuring two-game sets against the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals.

Ottawa will play eight regular-season games against each of its Northeast Division rivals and four games against its other Eastern Conference opponents. In the Western Conference, the Senators will travel to face Pacific Division teams (Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes and San Jose Sharks) while hosting Central Division clubs (Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues) at Scotiabank Place. The Senators will not play against the Northwest Division (Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks) during the 2007-08 season.

The regular-season home schedule features 34 games from Thursday to Sunday as follows: Thursday (16), Friday (1), Saturday (16) and Sunday (1). The early weekday games feature two on Mondays, five on Tuesdays and none on Wednesdays.

All weekend home night games will again be played at 7 p.m. All weekday home games will see 7:30 p.m. face-offs.

The Senators play five home afternoon games with 3 p.m. start times. Ottawa will welcome Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils on Monday, Oct. 8; Saku Koivu and the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, Nov. 10; Scott Gomez, Chris Drury and the new-look New York Rangers on Saturday, Dec. 1; Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on Dec. 29; and Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, March 1.

November is the Senators' busiest month at home with nine of 14 games being played at Scotiabank Place, while December boasts the busiest travel schedule with nine of 14 games played on the road during the holiday season. The Senators play a total of 10 games in October, 14 in November, 14 in December, 14 in January, 13 in February, another 14 in March and three in April to round out the 82-game schedule.

Other schedule highlights for 2007-08 include:

- In the first half of the season, the Senators will play 21 home games and 20 on the road.

- The Senators travel to Anaheim March 3 for a rematch against the Stanley Cup champions.

- Ottawa will play back-to-back games 17 times, including home-and-home series against Toronto (Oct. 3 and 4) and Boston (Nov. 3 and 4).

- All eight of the Senators final regular-season games from March 22 on will be against Northeast Division rivals.
