Ottawa Senators Recall Forward Josh Hennessy From Binghamton (AHL)

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 18, 2009) - The Ottawa Senators today recalled forward Josh Hennessy from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Hennessy, in his first call-up to the NHL this season, has 17 goals, 15 assists and 26 penalty minutes in 54 games with Binghamton in 2008-09. He leads the B-Sens in goals and is fifth in points. Hennessy has four game-winning goals and seven multi-point games, including three two-goal games. In 286 career AHL games over four professional seasons, Hennessy has scored 93 goals and added 113 assists while recording 189 penalty minutes.

Hennessy played five games with the Senators last season, bringing his NHL and Ottawa career totals to one goal and four penalty minutes over 15 games.

The 24-year-old made his NHL debut with the Senators during the 2006-07 season, scoring once and registering four penalty minutes in 10 games. He scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 7, 2007, against Philadelphia's Antero Niittymaki.

The native of Brockton, Mass., was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Hennessy played four seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), collecting 291 points (128-163) and 162 penalty minutes in 269 games.

Hennessy was traded to Chicago by San Jose with Tom Preissing for Mark Bell on July 9, 2006, and then traded to Ottawa by Chicago with Tom Preissing, Michal Barinka and Chicago's second-round choice in 2008 entry draft (Patrick Wiercioch) for Martin Havlat and Bryan Smolinski on July 10, 2006.

The Binghamton Senators (28-18-5-3) are next in action tonight when they play host to the Norfolk Admirals.
