Ottawa Startups Turn on the Technology for Tim Hortons Camp Day

Klipfolio and Solink Offer Coffee Sales Leaderboard, Hourly 'Coffee Meter' and More to Boost Teamwork on the Annual Fundraiser

OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - May 31, 2016) - Klipfolio, a provider of cloud business dashboards, and Solink, a data-driven security platform, today announced they will be supporting Tim Hortons Camp Day. The two startups are helping more than 50 stores track their coffee sales on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, and are organizing the startups in Ottawa to directly support the cause.

Every year, sales of Tim Hortons coffee on Camp Day sends thousands of kids to camp. Last year, Tim Horton Children's Foundation (THCF) raised $12.4 million, sending close to 18,000 kids to one of the seven THCF camps. This year, THCF wants to increase this number to 19,000.

Solink and Klipfolio are partnering to chart coffee sales for more than 50 stores in Ontario and Quebec. The startups hope to help motivate employees by providing visibility to the program's progress over the course of the day. A real-time Klipfolio dashboard with data from the stores' point-of-sale systems courtesy of Solink will let the stores see:

  • Information on the Tim Hortons Camp Day program
  • Coffee sales totals for Camp Day
  • Sales by the hour 

In addition, the two startups are taking direct action to boost Camp Day sales, creating a local "Ottawa Startups for Tim Hortons Camp Day" campaign, encouraging other startups to pre-order Tim Hortons Take Twelve boxes of coffee to be picked up and delivered to select downtown and Kanata locations by a Solink or Klipfolio employee. The two firms are also making direct donations and providing free product to the top stores.

"When that late night code push is upon us, Tim Hortons is there for us and we wanted to do something to help them," said Michael Matta, CEO of Solink. "What better way to give back than to do something that also supports kids?"

The Klipfolio team has a personal connection to Camp Day. Jon Taylor, Klipfolio's digital marketing manager, attended a THCF camp as a child. "I was lucky enough to attend a Tim Horton's Camp when I was kid; it remains one of my fondest childhood memories," said Taylor. "It's a cause I'm proud we're supporting because I know from experience how impactful this experience can be for a child."
