Our Place Society is joining forces with local businesses to launch a new Sponsor-a-Breakfast campaign. This unique program encourages businesses to partner with Our Place by funding and serving breakfast to Victoria's homeless community.

"Our Sponsor-a-Breakfast program is a great way to connect two diverse worlds," says Don Evans, Executive Director at Our Place Society. "We know it takes a whole community to provide a sense of hope and belonging for Greater Victoria's most vulnerable citizens - and sponsoring a breakfast provides a way of working together to help achieve this goal."

A nutritious breakfast is a vital routine for people living in poverty and those who are homeless. This initiative will ensure that Our Place can continue to provide a healthy start to 300 hungry people each morning. The Sponsor-a-Breakfast program allows businesses to help serve these meals.

"The work of Our Place in our community is invaluable," says Ken Kelly, head of the Downtown Victoria Business Association. "This is a fantastic way that the business community can show support." Once the cost of breakfast is covered by a business sponsor, Our Place is able to reallocate funds to focus on their goal of providing meals on weekends.

There are currently no other programs in Victoria that connect these two worlds in such a positive and sustainable way. League Investment has been blazing the trail for other businesses by sponsoring and serving a monthly breakfast at Our Place. "Sponsoring a breakfast is such a simple, easy thing to do - but it's truly meaningful and appreciated by all. It gives our staff perspective," says one League Investment employee. "The commitment is negligible compared to the benefit received."
