Victoria's Homeless and Most Vulnerable Citizens Will Gather to Celebrate Christmas this Friday
VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 6, 2012) - The Our Place Society (OPS) annual Christmas party will take place at First Metropolitan Church on Friday, December 7th. The Open Door Choir @ Our Place led by Louise Rose will provide live music and Christmas carols creating a festive atmosphere for Greater Victoria's street population and people living in poverty. An abundance of food will be provided by local churches and distributed by over 50 volunteers.
"Christmas is a special time to be with loved ones. For many of the people at Our Place, we're the closest family they have," said Don Evans, Executive Director of OPS. "We want everyone at Our Place to feel the joy of Christmas."
Our Place Society is a community centre serving the poor, disabled, and homeless of Greater Victoria. At its location on Pandora Avenue it serves over 1200 meals per day. OPS offers a place for people to shower, get clean clothing, participate in community programming, as well as gather and share a story with friends in a place of belonging. OPS has forty-five transitional housing units for the hardest to house in our region.
