OuterBay Signs Worldwide Database Archiving Agreement With HP

OuterBay's Comprehensive Database Archiving and Subsetting Solutions to Be Part of New HP ILM Offering

CUPERTINO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 6, 2005 -- OuterBay, the leader in information lifecycle management (ILM) solutions for applications and databases, today announced a worldwide technology and distribution agreement under which OuterBay's Application Data Management (ADM) Suite will be resold by HP.

Under the agreement, OuterBay technology will be integrated into the newly announced HP StorageWorks Reference Information Manager (RIM) for Databases, a turnkey database archiving solution. The agreement highlights how OuterBay's best of breed ILM technology for structured data complements HP's ILM vision to automate the capture, management, retention, and delivery of business-critical information.

"Because of the unmatched functionality of our ILM solutions, OuterBay has cemented its status as the industry standard for application and database archiving," said Michael Howard, Chairman and CEO, OuterBay. "Our strategic relationship with HP will extend our reach and exposure in new markets."

Frank Harbist, Vice President and General Manager of ILM and Storage Software for the StorageWorks Division at HP, said, "HP is pleased to partner with a market leader such as OuterBay to provide our customers with a database archiving solution that improves performance and can lower costs."

HP StorageWorks RIM for Databases will be available worldwide as integrated database archiving solution from HP, allowing companies to better manage and seamlessly access archive data through OuterBay's application-aware technology.

OuterBay's solutions help control accelerating data growth by relocating closed transactions and other infrequently accessed data to online archives with transparent access or long-term, survivable access on lower cost tiered-storage. This significantly reduces the size of the production system, thereby improving application performance and operations predictability and lowering TCO in database operations.
