Outstanding Canadians Recognized for Fostering Cyber Safety

Five honourees acknowledged for their dedication to promoting Internet and smartphone safety

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 21, 2015) - Today, TELUS announced the winners of the inaugural TELUS WISE Outstanding Canadian Awards, a program that celebrates individuals, programs or organizations that have made a significant impact towards keeping Canadians safer online. Each winner will be awarded $2,000 to further their Internet and smartphone safety program or cause.

The Outstanding Canadian awards provide us an opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding work being done across Canada to help foster a safer and more informed online world."

Outstanding Canadian student, teacher or program (kindergarten to grade 12)

Dr. Wendy Craig and Dr. Debra Pepler, PREVNet Co-Founders, Toronto, Ontario

Outstanding Canadian student, teacher or program (post-secondary)

Carol Todd, Amanda Todd Legacy, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia

Outstanding Canadian citizen

Staff Sgt. Darren Laur, Victoria Police, Victoria, British Columbia

Outstanding Canadian police officer or program

Outstanding Canadian not-for-profit program
