Over 200 School Board Workers From Across Canada to Meet in Regina

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 2, 2009) - School board workers are committed to the promotion of healthy, respectful school environments despite cuts to funding public education.

Over 200 school board workers from across Canada are gathering in Regina to discuss issues facing public education and school board workers in particular.

"Whether it is cuts to custodial services or diminished resources aimed at handling more aggressive special needs kids, the attack on public education through chronic underfunding and contracting out is felt everyday in classrooms across Canada," said CUPE National President Paul Moist.

March 2nd

7:00 p.m. CUPE National President Paul Moist opens the meeting and
addresses delegates. Keynote speaker, Barbara Coloroso,
internationally recognized speaker and author in the areas of
parenting, teaching, school discipline, non-violent conflict
resolution and reconciliatory justice addresses delegates.

March 3rd

9:00 a.m. Paul O'Donnell, CUPE national researcher, to give overview of
sectoral bargaining.

10:30 a.m. Barbara Coloroso addresses delegates on violence in our schools

March 4th

11:00 a.m. CUPE National Secretary-Treasurer Claude Genereux gives closing
remarks.


The National School Boards meeting will be held from March 2 to 4 at the Regina Inn Hotel, 1975 Broad Street, Regina, SK.
