Over 20,000 Children Nationwide To Celebrate Rainbow Magic Fun Day

LONDON, ENGLAND--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 22, 2006) - To celebrate the runaway success of Rainbow Magic and to launch the sixth series, The Fun Day Fairies, Saturday 2nd September has been declared Rainbow Magic Day. Over 600 bookshops and libraries nationwide are holding Rainbow Magic parties on this day, featuring fairy dress-up competitions and themed games. Several large events are taking place at key locations around the country including an all day party at Hamley's London where fans will meet the 7 new fairies!

An environmentally friendly balloon launch will take place around the country, including several independent bookshops and Borders stores. The winning fan and bookshop from which the balloon was launched will each receive an extra-special prize.

Rainbow Magic is certainly loved by the readers and their parents. In fact, in 2006, no other author has sold more copies than Daisy Meadows, that's more books than JK Rowling and Jacqueline Wilson! (i)

"I hope that you carry on writing fairy books forever!" - Rebecca, aged 9
"Hannah has never been fond of reading, until now." - Mother of Hannah, aged 7
"Your books make me feel magical!" - Elizabeth, aged 6
"My class wait for each new book with excitement!" - Primary Year 2 Teacher

The books are published under the pseudonym, Daisy Meadows, created by Working Partners, the team behind other successful series like Animal Ark. Magical fairy themes in linked sets and fresh narrative, from a small team of talented writers, encourage reading stamina.

Rainbow Magic is a sales phenomenon, having sold over 6 million copies in the UK alone and it is a constant presence in the bestseller charts. Simultaneous publication in themed sets maximises collect-ability. The first set of original Rainbow Fairies was published in 2003 and since then a further four sets have been published. Each story features a different fairy, but maintains an overall brand identity with distinctive illustrations from a Macmillan Prize winning illustrator in an attractively commercial package.

The ongoing attention-grabbing Marketing Campaign has been crucial to the range's success. Hannah the Happy Ever After Fairy, a GBP1 World Book Day title for 2006, topped the overall charts, including adult fiction, completely selling out its print run of 350,000.

The Rainbow Magic website receives an average of 26,962 hits a day and over 300 competition entries pour in each month. These books are really encouraging a love of reading amongst the fans.
