Pacific Bay Set to Drill Otish Uranium Targets, Quebec

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 19, 2007) - Mr. George Sanders, President, Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:CBP) ("Pacific Bay"), is pleased to announce that a contract has been signed with Major Drilling for a heli-portable NQ diameter drill rig to explore its targets in the Matoush area of the Otish Mountains, Quebec. A ground geophysical survey consisting of more than 65 line-kilometres of VLF/magnetics is now complete over priority areas initially identified by airborne geophysical surveys and ground scintillometer grids. Pacific Bay's Camp Alfred has been winterized in preparation for the fall drilling campaign, which is scheduled to start before the end of the month.

George Sanders, P.Geo, President of Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. and Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101 for this News Release, states, "We now know quite a lot about the minerals and trace elements that are associated with the Matoush style uranium mineralization. The first shallow drilling will look for geological indicators along VLF/EM conductors and magnetic linears identified in our geophysical surveys. Any structure that shows the right alteration minerals and trace element geochemistry in the first 100-150 metres, will be interpreted as an indication of a uranium-bearing system existing at depth. This drilling is the next step towards discovery of a new uranium deposit in the district. It is a very important step for Pacific Bay. Our team of professionals has done an excellent job of identifying drilling targets."

Maps are posted on our website detailing uranium priority targets on Pacific Bay's Matoush claims. Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. explores for uranium in Quebec in the Otish Mountains, the Papaskwasati Basin and in Mont-Laurier. Pacific Bay also has an active silver-gold exploration program underway at Cerro Negro, La Rioja Province, Argentina and a gold-uranium exploration program on the Regalo property, Chubut Province, Argentina.
