Paladin Energy Ltd. Strengthens Executive Management Team

PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 31, 2008) - Paladin Energy Ltd ("Paladin" or "the Company") (TSX:PDN)(ASX:PDN) is pleased to advise that Paladin Energy Ltd ("Paladin") has recruited Mr Simon Solomons and Mr Greg Walker, two highly experienced senior mining executives, into key roles in its management team. Paladin remains committed to maintaining a lean and flat management structure, but recognizes the need to expand its existing executive team in order to meet the dynamic and accelerating growth challenges that face the Company.

Mr Simon Solomons

Mr Simon Solomons joined Paladin in January 2008 as Executive General Manager-Operations Development and will be primarily accountable for the Company's technical policy and overall direction of the Company's considerable mining developments, from late feasibility, construction and delivery of operationally sustainable operations to the Company. Mr Solomons has more than 30 years experience as a mining executive, holds a Master of Science (Mineral Economics) degree from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) with first class honours from the University of New South Wales.

Mr Solomons has worked for several major mining companies - Gold Fields Limited, North Limited, WMC Limited, Energy Resources of Australia Limited ("ERA") and Rio Tinto Limited. He was employed by ERA as Manager-Operations, then Resident Manager of its Ranger uranium mine in the Northern Territory, initially accountable for mining, plant and engineering operations and then overall site activities and adds further essential uranium experience into this key executive area. With his extensive experience in project evaluation, operational management and development - and hands-on direction of a significant uranium mine - Mr Solomons is well-equipped to make a significant contribution to Paladin as the Company develops its existing mine assets and seeks new growth prospects.

Mr Greg Walker

Mr Greg Walker has been appointed as Executive General Manager-International Affairs, accountable for managing external stakeholders, including governments, non-government organisations (NGOs) and community & public relations associated with the Company's global sites. Paladin is now actively engaged in two African countries - Namibia and Malawi - and is expanding its role as a global uranium supplier. This aspect requires focused attention and, in this regard, the Company recognises its obligations as a responsible international corporate citizen. Paladin acknowledges that, in the course of working in other countries, it has to be sensitive to local and national aspirations, a matter which it regards as vital to both its operational success and its "licence to operate".

Mr Walker is exceptionally well-qualified for this role - a former journalist and newspaper editor, Mr Walker has more than 25 years experience in the mining industry, in corporate relations, sales & marketing and general management roles. He is a former Group General Manager of External Relations for Rio Tinto Limited and Comalco Limited and has served as Chief Executive Officer of mining companies with projects located in Namibia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Zambia and Russia. He has worked as an expatriate mining executive in Africa, India, Canada, Russia and Europe and has extensive experience in managing stakeholder issues for greenfield and brownfield developments.

The appointment of Mr Simon Solomons and Mr Greg Walker is indicative of the calibre of executive that Paladin is able to attract, despite the highly-competitive international market for senior experienced mining executives. These appointments fully complement the already formidable executive management arm of the Company, with Simon Solomons and Greg Walker joining Gillian Swaby (Corporate Affairs), Ron Chamberlain (Chief Financial Officer), Wyatt Buck (Production), Jim Morgan (Construction), Dave Marsh (Metallurgy and Feasibility), Ed Becker (Geology & Exploration), Brendan O'Hara (Special Projects & Risk) and Dustin Garrow/James Eggins (Sales and Marketing).

The Company is also pleased to have been able to attract high calibre technical (engineering, geology, environmental), administrative and corporate personnel, with a number of recent appointments boding well for the Company's ambitious growth aspirations.
