Palo Alto Networks Extends Its Technology Partner Program

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 16, 2011) - Palo Alto Networks™, the network security company, has announced the expansion of vendors within its Technology Partner Program -- a program committed to arming mutual customers with integrated solutions that fundamentally improve network security and risk management for enterprises. These new vendors extend the ecosystem of the Technology Partner Program to address large enterprise and service provider requirements such as securing data centers and mobility applications. The new vendors are as follows:

  • Arista Networks
  • Enterasys
  • Gigamon
  • NetOptics
  • NitroSecurity
  • Nordic Edge

"Enterprise IT organizations now view us as an essential vendor in their networks and so it's incumbent upon us to continue collaborating with our industry's best-in-class vendors to ensure that customers can reap the most from their network security investments," said Punit Minocha, vice president of corporate and business development at Palo Alto Networks. "Customers have quickly taken to these combined solutions offered by us and our inaugural partners -- ArcSight (an HP Company), Firemon (formerly Secure Passage), NetWitness Corporation, Q1 Labs, RSA, Solera Networks, Splunk and Tufin Technologies -- and we are confident that these new six solution offerings will make our program even more applicable to the diverse enterprise infrastructures and security requirements out there."

Palo Alto Networks: The Established Next-Generation Firewall Market Leader

Palo Alto Networks' next-generation firewall provides policy-based visibility and control over applications, users and content to over 4,500 enterprises worldwide. Only Palo Alto Networks customers can safely enable applications while scanning this content for threats and potential data leakage.

Palo Alto Networks has fixed the problems associated with traditional firewalls by combining three identification technologies that provide visibility and control over applications, users and content. App-ID identifies exactly which applications are running on the network, as well as the associated risks, so administrators can deploy comprehensive application usage control policies for inbound and outbound traffic. User-ID integrates with enterprise directory services (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory and other LDAP directories) to link network activity to users and groups -- not just IP addresses -- for application visibility, policy creation, logging and reporting. Content-ID combines a real-time threat prevention engine with a comprehensive URL database to detect and block a wide range of threats, limit unauthorized transfer of files and data, and control non-work related Web surfing.

Information on more than 1,300 applications that are identified by Palo Alto Networks can be found in Applipedia, part of the company's Application and Threat Research Center. Visit the online resource to find the latest news, commentary, and discoveries on applications and threats at

Quotes from Our Technology Partners

"Partnering with Palo Alto Networks allows us to bring its high-performance next-generation firewall offering to our large enterprise and service provider customers, allowing them to offer cutting-edge security in the data center without sacrificing performance," said Ed Chapman, vice president of business development at Arista Networks. "This partnership furthers our mission to bring extensibility to networking, and to dramatically change the price and performance of data center networks."

"With increasing security threats every day, it is quite clear that we live in a vulnerable world where real attacks are regular occurrences, not just possibilities. With Enterasys technology, our customers have been rigorously enforcing granular policy and predictively managing risk," Chris Crowell, president and CEO of Enterasys, a Siemens Enterprise Communications company. "By providing increased transparency into network traffic and the ability to associate individual users with applications and protocols, Palo Alto Networks gives us increased visibility into all types of networks -- no matter what their use or configuration. Integrating Palo Alto's next generation firewalls with Enterasys Network Management Suite (NMS) addresses all considerations for user access, including user role, identity, and location; applications being used; and potential risks (Botnets, worms, malware, etc.)."

"With the exponential growth of network traffic, daily increases in threats to the network, the challenge of securing mobility in their workforce, and the burden of compliance regulations, enterprises and service providers alike require more visibility into the traffic traversing their network," said Paul Hooper, vice president of marketing at Gigamon. "This partnership is an important step in our continued focus to deliver pervasive traffic visibility in both the physical and virtual IT worlds. The next-generation firewalls offered by Palo Alto Networks are intelligent, quick-to-configure and easy-to-manage, and when combined with our GigaSECURE line of security enablement devices, are able to reduce the time to threat detection."

"Monitoring, compliance and security are three mandates that every enterprise IT organization must consider when determining which applications they will allow," said Dennis Carpio, vice president of strategic partnerships at Net Optics. "Our partnership with Palo Alto Networks combines the application visibility and control of Net Optics' Intelligent Network Access technology with Palo Alto Networks ability to accurately identify and control applications regardless of port or protocol and without sacrificing performance. This ensures that our customers have the tools they require to operate at the speeds that their businesses demand."

"NitroView delivers unmatched scalability and single pane-of-glass visibility into -- and invaluable context around -- security logs and events, and next-generation, risk-based correlation to detect external and insider threats that don't play by the rules. Combining that with data captured by Palo Alto Networks' firewalls fuels even more effective security initiatives," said Doug Bailey, executive vice president of business development at NitroSecurity. "We are thrilled to join the select group of companies in the Palo Alto Network Technology Alliance and collaborate in providing robust, high-value security solutions to enterprises."

"With the increasing reliance on mobile devices and applications for business use, IT administrators are being called upon to solve new and complex security challenges without compromising usability or performance," said Jim Carlsson, CEO of Nordic Edge. "We are excited to partner with Palo Alto Networks to deliver strong authentication in an easy-to-use and reliable way, and to provide users with a variety of different authentication delivery methods to choose from."
