Pan African Mining Corp. Accelerating Drill Programs With Purchase of Four New Rigs

VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 26, 2007 -- PAN AFRICAN MINING CORP. (TSX-V: PAF) (FRANKFURT: P2A) (the "Company") is pleased to report that it has just purchased four additional drill rigs for its exploratory programs in Madagascar. The rigs will be shipped from Canada as and when available over the next 30 days and are anticipated to be available for use on site in the coming months. The Company presently has two rigs already in operation, including a large Atlas-Copco CS14 wireline core drill being utilized at the Mountain of Gold Project in the Dabolava region of Madagascar's central-west plateau.

Two of the rigs are new self-contained, track-mounted GeoExplorer core drills manufactured by Multi-Power Products Ltd. of Kelowna, B.C., Canada. One drill will be assigned to the Company's uranium program under the direction of Dr. Reinhard Ramdohr, where an extensive drill program is planned for this year in the Tranomaro region in the South. The other will be assigned to the Company's coal program, where an extensive exploration program is now underway in the Sakoa area.

The new drills are multipurpose, top-drive hydraulic rigs similar to the popular UDR 650 manufactured in Brisbane, Australia. They are currently being equipped for wireline core drilling for the initial phase of both programs. The drills are being configured for optimum performance for HQ and/or NQ core drilling to a typical depth of 200 meters, but are capable of drilling in excess of 600 meters depth. As "multipurpose" drills, both can be reconfigured with minimum retooling for reverse circulation or mud-rotary drilling, as appropriate for subsequent phases of the programs. Both rigs are mounted on Morooka MST-1500 crawler carriers for high mobility and quick setup. The crawler mounting also will reduce the need for drill access roads and improved drill pads. They are ideally suited to the varied terrain encountered in Madagascar.

In addition to the large GeoExplorer rigs, the Company has purchased two lightweight, portable gasoline-powered JKS Winkie core drills with AW core. These will be utilized for shallow reconnaissance drilling generally to depths up to 45 meters in connection with the Company's uranium, coal and gold programs. They have been purchased from Parts HeadQuarters Inc. of Burlington, Ontario, Canada and are being shipped shortly. The aggregate cost for the four new drills together with attendant parts and materials is approximately $850,000. All of the drills will be operated by the Company's own team of skilled drilling professionals headed up by seasoned international driller Kullervo Kumpumaki of Finland.
