Pancetera Introduces New SmartMotion Product

Stand-Alone Virtual Appliance Reduces Backup and Recovery Time of Virtual Machine Data By up to 50% Over Competitive Solutions

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 19, 2011) - With its focus on providing solutions that simplify and optimize the ability of organizations to move, protect and recover virtual machines and associated data, either locally or in the cloud, Pancetera today announced its new Pancetera SmartMotion product. Available today as a virtual appliance, SmartMotion allows virtual machines to be replicated directly to any NAS target, without the need for staging servers, whether those targets are local or in the cloud. SmartMotion reduces the time required for backup and recovery of data in virtual environments by upwards of 50%. Even running VMs can be replicated or migrated in a matter of minutes -- a task that used to take hours or even days. By eliminating the multiple time-wasting steps to backup or recover data that competitive virtual machine backup products require, Pancetera allows the recovery of virtual machines in a fraction of the time compared to other solutions -- all targeted at getting businesses back up and running quickly and minimizing downtime.

Pancetera also announced today the latest version of its flagship product, Pancetera Unite, version 2.2. This latest release provides additional tools to help ease and accelerate the process of recovering virtual machines, ROI tools as well as the ability to optimize the virtual data within Linux virtual machines. Pancetera Unite allows organizations to extend the capabilities of their existing virtualization and data protection tools investments to help meet stringent SLA's or compliance requirements in their virtual environment. With Pancetera SmartMotion and Unite 2.2, customers now have powerful, yet simple and cost-effective solutions for disaster recovery of their entire VM environments.

"Pancetera SmartMotion, along with the latest edition of Pancetera Unite, addresses pain-points we hear from our customers as well as the market in general every day. As virtualization continues to be widely deployed, the virtual machines and data within them is becoming more business critical and recovery time is more important than ever," said Henrik Rosendahl, CEO, Pancetera. "SmartMotion is an out-of-the-box solution that results in significantly faster backup and recovery of virtual machines. SmartMotion's scalability works not only within an existing local network environment, but also supports an organizations' emergence into the cloud."

Pancetera SmartMotion enables fast and efficient replication, migration and recovery of VMs to/from any target NAS storage device without requiring any third party software, staging servers or additional acquisition of new storage infrastructure. Unlike 3rd party virtualization backup products that require virtual data be backed up to a staging server and include hidden costs, SmartMotion's virtual appliance integrates with existing backup products like EMC's Legato, Symantec's NetBackup & Backup Exec, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and others to keep implementation costs to a minimal.

SmartMotion also provides the ability to create hot stand-bys of virtual machines, locally or in the cloud, providing MSP's additional disaster recovery services to their customers.

Pancetera SmartMotion is immediately available for $495 per socket or $99 per virtual machine. Pancetera Unite 2.2 is also immediately available as a free 30-day trial and commercially available from Pancetera and its OEM partners.
