Panzura Names Pu Paul Zhang as VP of Engineering

Zhang's Product Architecture Expertise, DevOps Background and Proven Capability to Scale in the Enterprise Will Help Drive the Next Era of Cloud Storage

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 30, 2016) - Panzura today announced the appointment of Pu Paul Zhang as the company's vice president of engineering, effective immediately. Zhang brings two decades of product architecture and software development expertise in storage, security, system software, and networking. His proven ability to scale products for large enterprises will help customers transition away from horizontally scaling out all forms of storage at each location into a single, unified storage solution that moves into the cloud.

Zhang joins the company after serving as vice president of engineering at Atlantis Computing where he transitioned the company from VDI storage to software defined storage and all flash hyper-converged storage. His technology has won "Best in Show" at VMWorld and Citrix Synergy for the past three years, but more importantly has enabled customers to reduce costs through a software defined storage model. Prior to Atlantis, Zhang held senior engineering management positions at Symantec, Vormetric and Netscreen.

"As enterprises continue to take advantage of cloud scale and economics, the importance of a modern architecture to bridge to the cloud becomes essential. Paul has one of the smartest software architecture and engineering minds, and a pulse on what's needed next in the industry," said Patrick Harr, CEO of Panzura. "With the addition of his skillset to Panzura's core technology, we will continue to offer our customers the enterprise-grade, scalable, secure architecture that they need now and in the future."

"I'm ecstatic to join Panzura and help customers transform from storage status quo into a simple, cloud-integrated storage architecture," said Zhang. "Customers are using Panzura to speed up global software build distribution, distribute high-value assets, consolidate on-premise storage into the cloud, and collaborate on technical applications across sites. With all the data is stored in the cloud in each of these use cases, I want to enable customers to unlock the power of that data with services running in the cloud such as analytics, simulation, and search."

In addition to extending Panzura's market leading Cloud-Integrated Storage capabilities, Zhang will also focus on enabling customers to have a single, unified platform that unifies data between the cloud and datacenters, enabling applications and containers to run without a change in either location.
