ÎLES-DE-LA-MADELEINE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Feb. 25, 2014) - Canada Economic Development
The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the organization Paradis Plein air l'Archipel Inc. has been granted financial assistance to modernize its recreational and community facilities.
- Paradis Plein air l'Archipel Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the population of Îles-de-la-Madeleine with a gathering place for community activities and the practice of such outdoor sports as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, snowmobiling and all-terrain vehicle riding. Its facilities are used by more than 10,000 people a year.
- The financial assistance has been granted in the form of a $75,500 non-repayable contribution through Canada Economic Development's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.
- The project involves renovating and modernizing the facilities of Paradis Plein air l'Archipel, notably by replacing the exterior siding and roof of the main building and adjoining storage shed.
- This work will improve the functionality and sustainability of the buildings. Moreover, the purchase of materials from local suppliers and the creation of three indirect jobs will help stimulate the Îles-de-la-Madeleine economy.
"By supporting this Paradis Plein air l'Archipel renovation project, our Government is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities."
