Paragon Biomedical to Attend Society for Clinical Data Management (SCDM) Annual Conference

Meeting Provides Expert Data Management Forum

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - September 23, 2009) - Active support of the Society for Clinical Data Management (SCDM) ensures the continued vitality of the clinical research industry, said Marianne Plaunt, PhD, Vice President, Global Operations at Paragon Biomedical.

Paragon Biomedical, a global, full-service, woman-owned clinical research organization (CRO), has announced that Plaunt and other members of the company's leadership and data management teams will attend the 2009 SCDM Annual Conference.

"From the emergence of powerful electronic data management tools to the need for innovative partnership models, there are many variables having an impact on the industry right now," said Plaunt. "Our position at Paragon is to continually build upon our capabilities and expertise -- in data management and partnerships -- so we are fully prepared to meet our clients' needs. One of the many reasons we support SCDM is for the pivotal role they play in supporting meaningful dialogue and developing relationships across the industry."

"Clinical research organizations like Paragon Biomedical will continue to fill critical roles in helping pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies control rising clinical development costs," Plaunt continued. "We've exhibited at the SCDM conference for several years, but our presence this year is even more important because we want Sponsors to know we are committed to them and their success during these challenging times."

Plaunt, who holds a doctorate in microbiology, said Paragon's commitment to innovative solutions is reflected in the company's ongoing evaluation and adoption of electronic data management tools that allow Sponsors to customize their service needs.

Her participation in the professional society exceeds that of an average SCDM member. She joined the organization in 1998 as an active participant on the membership committee; served on the society's Board of Trustees for three years, and was chairman of the board in 2004. Since that time she has served as a liaison between the organization and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Paragon Biomedical is a global, full-service, woman-owned CRO providing Phase I - IV clinical research services and support to the world's pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies.

The Society for Clinical Data Management is a non-profit professional organization focused on advancing the discipline of clinical data management. The organization's annual conference will be held October 4-6 in Seattle, Washington.
