Paramount Offers Great Opportunity to Put Entertainment Under the Tree

AURORA, IL--(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) -  Skip the tie department. Forget the appliance aisle. And ditch the calendar idea. Holiday shopping just got easier and dramatically more fun. The Paramount Theatre has announced the debut of two back-to-back shows running 12-weeks in 2011 in its Copley Theatre. The Vagina Monologues debuts Feb. 10 with Flanagan's Wake opening just two days later on Feb. 12.

Gift givers and recipients alike will enjoy the intimacy of the Copley Theatre, which lends itself to the unique, interactive nature of both shows. The 216-seat theater offers a seamless transition from actors to audience. This creates an entertainment experience that is strikingly more personal.

A phenomenal girls-night-out show, The Vagina Monologues features the voices of women from around the world. Their stories are funny, witty, impassioned and always candid, creating an eclectic mix of narratives all centered around the experiences of being a woman. The Vagina Monologues was originally produced in New York in 1996 and is based on a series of interviews conducted by playwright Eve Ensler. (Contains adult content and themes. Rated R, not recommended for children or teens).

Sponsored by Ballydoyle restaurant, Flanagan's Wake is the hilarious interactive Irish wake that has been running in Chicago for 13 smash years. When will it end? According to Brian Ballybunion, Flanagan's best drinkin' mate, "We'll keep waking him until we get it right." Audience members are welcome to join the villagers of a small village in Ireland as they tell tales, sing songs and mourn the passing of one of their own, Flanagan. Spectators are welcome to share tales of their own experiences and misadventures with dear old Flanagan or simply enjoy the stories and songs of the locals as they recall life with "Himself." Be prepared to grieve as only the Irish can!

The Vagina Monologues runs Thursdays at 7:30 P.M. and Fridays at 8 P.M, starting February 10. Flanagan's Wake runs Saturdays at 8 P.M. and Sundays at 3 P.M, starting February 12. Both shows close the first weekend in May. Tickets are $28.50 and may be purchased by calling the Paramount Theatre box office at (630) 896-6666. The Copley Theatre is in Chicago's far west suburbs in downtown Aurora at 8 East Galena Boulevard.
