Parkbus Service Connects French River Provincial Park to Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 15, 2012) - Starting this Friday, French River Provincial Park will become the latest destination for the provincially funded Parkbus Initiative that introduces bus service between Toronto and select parks in Ontario. The move will make this 735 sq. km park, a canoeing hotspot encompassing prime wilderness and numerous historic canoe routes, accessible by public transit right from downtown Toronto, about 400 km apart.

The Parkbus program was launched as a grassroots initiative in Toronto in 2010 with the goal of introducing bus service to key campgrounds, canoe access points and backpacking trails in Ontario. The project is run in collaboration with Ontario Parks, Parks Canada and Ministry of Tourism, with service to Algonquin, Killarney, Bruce Peninsula and Grundy Lake parks already in effect. Tickets and schedules can be found online at

Parkbus is a project of Transportation Options, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable tourism and transportation in Ontario.
