Parks Associates Announces Medtronic and Samsung Keynotes and Agenda for Third-Annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers

One-Third of U.S. Smartphone Owners Track Diet and Nutrition Through an App

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Jun 7, 2016) - Parks Associates today announced the detailed agenda and keynotes from Medtronic and Samsung for its third-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers. The conference, August 30 - September 1 in San Diego, spotlights health technologies as part of the Internet of Things (IoT) phenomenon and analyzes ways that connected health solutions can engage healthcare consumers and help transform the U.S. health system.

"One-third of U.S. smartphone owners use an app to track diet and nutritional information, and 15% of consumers are highly interested in health/wellness coaching," said Harry Wang, Senior Research Director, Parks Associates. "At Connected Health Summit, we will examine successful approaches in the deployment of connected healthcare products and services, both for consumers and clinicians, to identify how all players can leverage technology innovations to advance usage and generate better outcomes."

Annette Brüls, President, Diabetes Service and Solutions, Medtronic, will deliver the opening keynote for the conference on 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31. David Rhew, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Healthcare and Fitness, Samsung Electronics America, will deliver the morning keynote on 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 1.

Throughout the conference, Parks Associates will present new consumer research showing the rising consumerism in the U.S. healthcare market. One-third of U.S. broadband households own and use at least one connected health or wellness device, while 35% of U.S. broadband households are comfortable selecting a health monitoring device for personal use and 40-45% of consumers with chronic conditions have used at least one health app.

"Over the next five years, 14% of U.S. broadband households will take on a caregiver role for a family member, on top of the 8% who already have a caregiver," Wang said. "Doctors' roles are also expanding as they have to integrate apps into their treatment plans and recommend high-tech devices consumers can use at home."

Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers features 300+ industry healthcare and technology leaders networking and discussing case studies for successful solutions, including how solution providers won the support of payors and other customers, in order to identify and analyze the best practices for navigating this complex industry.
