Parks Associates Hosts Energy Research Workshop at Smart Energy Summit Addressing Smart Home, IoT, and Management Strategies

69% of U.S. Broadband Households Are Willing to Subscribe to Comprehensive Bundle of Energy Services

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Jan 20, 2015) - Parks Associates today announced the agenda for "Energy in IoT: Profitable Use Cases for the Smart Home," the pre-summit workshop at Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer, taking place Monday, February 16, at Austin's Four Seasons Hotel. This workshop provides detailed analysis and research findings from Parks Associates' analyst team on the smart home, IoT, and energy management markets.

Over two-thirds of U.S. broadband households would be willing to pay a monthly fee for a bundle of smart energy services, including 43% who would pay $9.99 per month for a bundle that offers a variety of energy-related monitoring and notification services, according to new research from Parks Associates.

"Individual smart energy features typically appeal to one-third of U.S. broadband households, but interest grows when these solutions are bundled together," said Tom Kerber, Director, Energy and Home Controls Research, Parks Associates. "Consumers see value in groups of value-added energy and other smart home services, and this strategy yields solutions capable of driving recurring revenue. This workshop analyzes the changes in the consumer perspective and examines new business models and opportunities that follow these changes."

Parks Associates' workshop will consist of nine sessions:

  • Trends in Smart Home System Adoption
  • Trends in Smart Product Adoption
  • Energy Management Applications in the Smart Home
  • Value-added Services: New Strategies
  • Profit Improvement for Energy Providers
  • Profiles of Early Adopters
  • Personalization
  • Consumer Engagement: Best Practices in Social Media
  • Engagement
