The 2011 program of activities for Parks Days is more exciting than ever to mark the 100th birthday of Parks Canada, established in 1911 as the Dominion Parks Branch.

Starting at noon, Montrealers are invited to meet Parks Canada staff to plan their next vacation and learn how best to enjoy Parks Canada's network of special places while families are invited to participate in fun activities such as face painting, colouring, kids costumes, photos, and fun activities such as: Captain Black's Recruitment, Voyageur Recruitment, the Straw Fort, sponges battle 1812, Special Day "Mon Canal", climbing, trampoline, canoe-kayak, mini-cruises, learn to raw activities and others.

At 5 p.m., the Parks Canada stage will welcome Quebec group Les Trois Accords, followed by Marie-Mai, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Parks Canada and Parks Day in songs and music.

Parks Canada was the world's first national park and national historic site service and, ever since, has been a world leader in protecting and preserving natural and historic treasures. The Parks Canada centennial provides a unique opportunity to reach young people from Canada's major urban centres and help them connect with the true essence of Canada. Parks Canada wishes to thank the national partners involved in its centennial celebrations: Fairmont Hotels, the Royal Canadian Mint, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Canada Post and VIA Rail.
